M3F 2022: Day One

The now by the name M3F festival has been running since 2004. The three in the name originally coming from McDowell Mountain Music when it started in Scottsdale in view of the McDowell Mountain range. Since then, it has only grown and grown, moving into bigger digs in downtown Phoenix at Margaret T Hance Park. It only made sense for them to remove the direct name of McDowell Mountain and rename to the acronym of M3F. My first attending of the festival was in 2016 where I watched Beck for…

Punk Rock Bowling 2021: Day 2

Day Two had me sleeping in to let my feet recover as much as possible for another jam packed day of music at Punk Rock Bowling. Unfortunately, that meant staying off my feet a little longer to extend their life to my photo taking plans at the evening club show with my friends in Playboy Manbaby. Regardless, the day continued to be filled with memory making moments and sets. Suburban Resistance Once again, I was here for the openers with good reason. Tom Urban, a man you may know for…

A Swagger Their Own

There are bands that you think the world of when you hear them. You want to catch them live anytime you can. Then, something happens and they disappear. Sometimes that is it, but in others they continue on. The latter is the case with Harper and the Moths, who since their last album release have had a little turnover in their ranks. The changes and break only further makes it wonderful they are back, with new music and bolstered by a strong set of bands on their album release night.…

Hot Pockets and A Farewell

As life goes on, we continue to grow and change. Our interests jump around and with that we tend to make changes to adapt. With bands, that sometimes ends up the case too. When a member of a favorite band decides it is time to make that kind of change. This night was part that, as Mitch performed on drums for the last time with a band I discovered thanks to him, American Standards. Of course, anytime you pair their energy with that of Playboy Manbaby it’s going to be…

Sugar, Spice, and a Dash of Punk

What do you do after spending about ten hours out at a Warped Tour in Phoenix? If you’re me, you take the day off to rest and go out to music the next night. Plus given Harper and the Moths are taking time off to put toward a new album, the Real Fits show was on the top of my radar. The night opened on a fantastic touring band, then flowed into great local acts across two air-conditioned venues. That touring act would be Beachwood Coyotes from L.A. These awesome…

A Dreamcar With An Exxxtra Element

A great musician is a great musician no matter the genre. In this case, we have what most people have labeled a “super band.” Dreamcar is made up of Davey Havok, of A.F.I., and Tony, Tom, and Adrian of No Doubt. The magic is that they aren’t playing any genre most adoring fans are familiar with, and it comes together in magnificent form. Before we get to Dreamcar, however, there were the guys in Dear Boy opening up the show. They were the perfect complement to open. I would best…

Don’t Question Your Desire

There is a lot great music in Phoenix. There are a lot of great venues with music in Phoenix. Busy nights of music like tonight bring out the math, because then I’m stuck trying to figure out where to go and hope not to upset anyone I miss. This website has amplified how I want to try to get everyone covered, and I still want to watch some of my favorites. It makes for tough decisions, but no matter the choice, I always catch some amazing music. For example, tonight…
