Lagwagon’s Two Nights of Blaze and Double Plaidinum

Getting to see a band once is a pleasure, but getting to see them two nights in a row is a double delight. There have been a handful of times that I’ve been able to watch a band two, or more, nights in a row like that. AJJ and Authority Zero are ones I have in the same venues back to back. The Slackers and Crazy & The Brains are two that come to mind that I’ve pulled off in two nights in two different cities. Regardless of whether the…

Masters of Melodic Punk

There are lineups you just look at and can tell will be amazing. A couple bands on the bill stand out and above a lot of their respective genre. In the case of this night at the Crescent Ballroom, it was just that. The tour paired the talented musicians of both Red City Radio and Lawrence Arms, alongside the fantastic discovery for me in Sincere Engineer opening it up. Sincere Engineer is the one person, acoustic act of Deanna. From the beginning she was entertaining not just by performing these…

Look What Happened

Road trips are becoming a more common regularity for my concert going. It is not just the big festivals either. This is a random trip to a place out of town like the Rialto in Tucson. With the opening of the Green Room up in Flagstaff, they have been bringing fantastic punk shows through the cooler climate. It is a Crescent Ballroom size venue with an excellent selection of craft beers from around the Flagstaff area. With a car lease, and limited income currently, I have fewer opportunities to get…

The OKC of Punk

It is rare an illness keeps me out of going to see music. Having a cold didn’t keep me from seeing Beck last year. However, when it includes a triple digit fever the body says different things on how long you’re going to make it on your feet. Getting that behind me was a blessing, and out to see the three bands tonight was one of the best things I’ve done in five days. However, before I even get to the first band of the show, let me first say…

Favorite Albums of 2016 From the National Bands

Deciding on a name for this, and how to sort the bands that aren’t from Phoenix, but don’t tour a ton outside of their home towns and states was a little difficult. In the end, I wanted to put an emphasis on the guys from Phoenix so this category covers everyone else. These are bands I will continue to say check them out if you can in 2017 in whatever location you can find them! It got a little tougher to sort through this one. Down to the well-known fact…

A Rebel Riot At the Yucca Tap

This was a night to remember at the Yucca Tap Room, rather part of outside the Yucca Tap! It was a great mix of locals and touring bands, bringing out more people who could fit in the regular venue. It sure doesn’t hurt that the headliner is one of two bands I’ve put in ink on my skin. The weather was perfect, and the PBR was flowing! The show kicked off with No Gimmick, and the charismatic Johnny Gimmick doing what he does best. Some of the best banter of…
