Bowling for Soup and Less than Jake Tag Team The Marquee

Epic duos persist throughout pop culture. Rick and Morty, Joker and Harley Quinn, Pinky and the Brain, Jay and Silent Bob, and so many others over the decades. That brings me to the peanut butter and jelly of epic duo tours, Bowling For Soup and Less than Jake. The pop punk and ska punk staples are together for a west side run of the U.S. bringing the awesome pair of Cliff Diver and Doll Skin with them to the Marquee Theatre this past Friday. Up first was a band known…

Photo Gallery: Le Tour DeVore 5

I’m back to going through photos from my backlog. This time going to January to the Le Tour DeVore. Jason DeVore, of Authority Zero, brought through a star studded cast of Howi Spangler, of Ballyhoo, Chris DeMakes, of Less than Jake, Gabo, of Fayuca, and Russ and Chris, of Meager Kings to the Yucca Tap Room. The tour entirely acoustic, giving people the opportunity to see these guys play their band’s songs and their own. That included an early peak at Chris’s first solo project live. Getting the chance to…

In With The Out Crowd

Enthusiasm is the intense and eager enjoyment, interest, or approval. Many describe it as infectious. I would go with it as the theme of the amazing lineup of a tour. This night’s tour package had Less than Jake and Face to Face co-headlining with Direct Hit and Jukebox Romantics along for the ride. All four of these bands brought a large amount of enthusiasm to their night’s performances. Opening up was the only band I was unfamiliar with going in, the Jukebox Romantics. The three piece from New York was…

EveryShowJoe’s Top 10 Influential Albums On His Life!

This idea came about as an exercise floating around the Facebook news feeds. The question was, what was the ten most influential albums on your life? For me, this was a chance go reminisce. To dig and research a little, correcting a little of my memories on what I heard before what. It brought out a couple of many stories I seem to have around my music experiences. Plus this will give you some insights into how my music tastes formed to where they sit today. So in not any…

Look What Happened

Road trips are becoming a more common regularity for my concert going. It is not just the big festivals either. This is a random trip to a place out of town like the Rialto in Tucson. With the opening of the Green Room up in Flagstaff, they have been bringing fantastic punk shows through the cooler climate. It is a Crescent Ballroom size venue with an excellent selection of craft beers from around the Flagstaff area. With a car lease, and limited income currently, I have fewer opportunities to get…

An Old St. Patrick’s Day Tradition Returns

Flogging Molly spent about one third of my life playing St. Patrick’s Day in Phoenix. They spoiled Phoenix with the best way to celebrate the holiday. A couple of those years they came through with their regular tour on top. Then after a long stint living in Los Angeles, they relocated the band to Detroit. This meant a harder trek than just four to five hours every year, and so the Phoenix tradition came to an end. In its ashes, they started doing the Salty Dog Cruise, which for some…

A Rebel Riot At the Yucca Tap

This was a night to remember at the Yucca Tap Room, rather part of outside the Yucca Tap! It was a great mix of locals and touring bands, bringing out more people who could fit in the regular venue. It sure doesn’t hurt that the headliner is one of two bands I’ve put in ink on my skin. The weather was perfect, and the PBR was flowing! The show kicked off with No Gimmick, and the charismatic Johnny Gimmick doing what he does best. Some of the best banter of…
