I Still Love You

If punk is my number one love in music, then Ska is a close number two. Punk was my gateway to it, discovering it when Craven Moorehead would play the Ska Punk Show song mix weekly on the FM airwaves. Started with Less than Jake and wondering what these horns are doing in there making it a little more danceable. I went down that rabbit hole and years later find me in love with the genre. That includes the Slackers being one of my top loves within it. The lineup…

The Zero Crew

Last month I got invited to not only watch Authority Zero from backstage, but also got a photo pass for some great shots you can find in my full write up of the show here. The other amazing part of it was the guys in Authority Zero were kind enough to sit down to answer some questions for me. I got to find out how the guys met to talking about the upcoming album. They are adamantly excited about it, plus make me super envious of not visiting Japan yet.…

Value Every Day

Always appreciate the time you are given and every day you get to enjoy life. The Steady 45s on their way into Phoenix unfortunately had an incident with a drunk driver, who rear ended their trailer into their van at around one hundred miles per hour. Luckily no one hurt, but unfortunately their trailer was taken down completely with their equipment. So at the top of this, if you have a little to spare head over to the GoFundMe set up to help them as they are only a couple…

Bring An Open Mind

Always keep an open mind, as it will bring with it awesome things you would have never experienced. Tonight was a case of that, with a lot of people telling me how amazing A.F.I. can be live and that I must see them at least once. Like probably a lot of punk fans I know, I haven’t purchased an album from them since Sing the Sorrows. However, watching them perform tonight showed me what amazing musicians they are, including some of the newer stuff I was just hearing for the…

Devote Your Life, No Boundaries

I’ve been listening and watching Authority Zero for nearly two decades now. My first album was Patches in Time, but my sixteen year old self was catching them on the Ska Punk Show before that. I can recite almost all the lyrics to any album released before I became a slave to the GameStop corporate machine in 2006. After that, I got pulled out of the scene for a few years only to hit an occasional bigger show. Attention and time unfortunately eaten by the salaried job. Even so, I…

Twenty Years Later

Twenty Years, two decades, those national crowds have been listening and watching both Anti-Flag and Reel Big Fish. That’s two thirds of my life they’ve been in my life, although my listening to either didn’t start until about two years after that listening to Ska Punk on the old Edge 106.3. Turning sixteen with a shiny new driver’s license, I filled that void of a quiet car with the local radio airwaves. This tour, while not an expected combination of headliners, brought me great excitement to watch two favorite bands…

Not So Aggro

The Aggrolites have a sound that took a little more for me to warm up to a few years ago. They are a ska band with the more traditional, older rocksteady sound. For whatever reason, I initially did not get into them. The first time I took a hard look at their music was when I saw Jesse Wagner play with Vic, from an all-time favorite ska band the Slackers, at a Punk Rock Bowling pool party. The duo was amazing and left me questioning why I hadn’t listened to…
