Perspective is a point of view. With a camera, the lens or lenses you use have the possibility to give you a change on your perspective. For this night, I challenged myself to only use the 85mm lens. When shooting pictures in a festival, like the Bash recently, it is a perfect way to get those closer shots on the big stage. In a smaller venue, such as the Rebel Lounge, it forces me to tackle my shots and angles in different ways and positions. Skinny Lister back in town…

When I entered Friday, I already knew there was a tussle for where I should go watch music. However, when I got the email back that I could take pictures of Skinny Lister and Will Varley, I knew my starting point. These are two bands I fell in love watching when introduced to me through two separate Frank Turner tours. A week prior finding out our local Cockswain had been added as openers and I knew that show was going to deliver. Of course, Valley Bar shows start pretty early…

In the end, I wanted to put an emphasis on the guys from Phoenix so this category covers everyone else. The band that I last saw between a top five favorite artist of mine, Frank Turner, and the super talented, Beans on Toast, was the headliner tonight. Skinny Lister who toured with Frank was the ones traveling the U.S. atop the tour. They impressed last time in that amazing sandwich of musicians at the Press Room, and they upped the ante when playing the role of headliner tonight.
