A Swagger Their Own

There are bands that you think the world of when you hear them. You want to catch them live anytime you can. Then, something happens and they disappear. Sometimes that is it, but in others they continue on. The latter is the case with Harper and the Moths, who since their last album release have had a little turnover in their ranks. The changes and break only further makes it wonderful they are back, with new music and bolstered by a strong set of bands on their album release night.…

Sugar, Spice, and a Dash of Punk

What do you do after spending about ten hours out at a Warped Tour in Phoenix? If you’re me, you take the day off to rest and go out to music the next night. Plus given Harper and the Moths are taking time off to put toward a new album, the Real Fits show was on the top of my radar. The night opened on a fantastic touring band, then flowed into great local acts across two air-conditioned venues. That touring act would be Beachwood Coyotes from L.A. These awesome…

An Old St. Patrick’s Day Tradition Returns

Flogging Molly spent about one third of my life playing St. Patrick’s Day in Phoenix. They spoiled Phoenix with the best way to celebrate the holiday. Don’t Question Your Desire

There is a lot great music in Phoenix. There are a lot of great venues with music in Phoenix. Busy nights of music like tonight bring out the math, because then I’m stuck trying to figure out where to go and hope not to upset anyone I miss. This website has amplified how I want to try to get everyone covered, and I still want to watch some of my favorites. It makes for tough decisions, but no matter the choice, I always catch some amazing music. For example, tonight…

Favorite Local Albums of 2016

People like lists I hear, so I’m putting together two. The first of which is to spotlight some of my favorite music released in the past year in Phoenix that I managed to catch. I struggled to keep it a best of ten, so I made it fifteen. I’m sure it may come to a shock for some it isn’t a punk band atop it, but my favorite genre does sit within in a couple spots. Be sure to check out all these artists and catch them at a show…

A Festivus For the Rest Of Us!

With holidays approaching, the amount of shows slows down. Looking at the calendar I saw one that jumped out at me, with Harper and the Moths playing this pre-Christmas Eve night so I jumped on it. Turns out I ended up at a birthday show that I didn’t know the birthday guy, but he clearly has a bunch of awesome music friends. Opening up was Cameron Rodgers doing an acoustic set. Cameron played with some help from his brothers too. His first brother played drums with him for a couple…
